There are a lot of hotels in Pattaya and most of them are budget friendly. You have to try hard to really spend a lot on a hotel here, but the $20 a night category is low even by Pattaya standards. The April Suites is in that category and the value it delivers for that price is almost unbelievable. Check prices on Expedia.

April Suites Location
April Suites is very central in Pattaya beach. You may have heard of the famous Walking Street but there is no distinct advantage to staying near there, even if you plan to spend a lot of time in the street. There are beer bars and massage places absolutely everywhere in this city so your only concern should really be how long it takes you to walk to the beach.
You can find the hotel on the map northeast of the label Pattaya. It’s just a couple blocks from April Suites to the large Pattaya Central shopping mall, with a food court on its lower level. There’s also a supermarket nearby which is not really a supermarket, but has a great liquor selection as well as soft drinks, snacks and essentials.
The only downside to the location here is that the hotel is at the end of a dead end alley. It’s only a block long but it is a bit less convenient than being on a main road. if you are coming back at night you will see stray cats and packs of soi dogs hanging around. If you are put off much by this sort of thing then you probably won’t enjoy Thailand generally.
At the end of the alley there is a fenced in lot where some plants are growing. The fence extends all the way to the street, forcing you to walk in or cross the busy road each time you want to walk south, which will be often.
Property Overview of the April Suites
Pattaya is a rough and ready, tumbledown kind of place so after traversing the streets and the alley out front to get there it will be a great relief to walk into the lobby and see that the hotel is actually quite nice. You could pick it up whole and plunk it down on any beach in Florida or California and it would not look or feel out of place.
The lobby area is mostly just functional. There’s a front desk and plenty of seating around the lobby, as well as a very small bar. This bar is where breakfast is served. I didn’t try it, but hotel breakfast in Asia is generally not very good.
April Suites asks for a 2000 baht deposit and asked to sign a basic sheet of rules with things like “don’t ruin the sheets.” This is ridiculous as it is as much as my entire 3 night stay costs and as a first impression it makes a guest feel pointedly unwelcome. It also seems unnecessary because this place does not give the impression of being a wild party hotel. Despite the low rates it seems to be mostly popular with middle aged Europeans.
If the lobby is understated the rooftop pool really impresses. Uncrowded and well designed it delivers a luxury feel despite some of the lowest room rates in Pattaya. The area also includes a sauna and a small fitness center. There is a small pool bar but it is not staffed or stocked. However you can bring some food up there and eat or use your laptop there, things of that nature.
April Suites Guest Rooms
I reserved a queen room for three nights at an all-in total of $107. At 300 square feet the room feels even larger than it is with a seating area and sizable fridge, and a small balcony. The room features wood trim and elements throughout and does feel vaguely peachy without being actually beach themed. It is nice enough and comfortable enough that a person could live here as an apartment for as long as necessary.
The beds at April Suites are large and the sheets are clearly of high quality, but it’s not the most comfortable bed in the world. It’s fine if you like firm sleeping. The TV has a ton of channels from around the world, with several stations in English. Two bottles of water are provided with the housekeeping each day. All rooms are nonsmoking.
The desk, closet and suitcase space make very efficient use of the room’s space. If there is a drawback it is the common feature in Thailand of needing a room key to make the power and AC work. I used a spare key from my stay at the Ibis Sathorn in Bangkok which did work, but after leaving the room for several hours I returned to find the power and AC had switched off while I was away.
Overall Impression
It is hard to believe how nice this hotel is for the price. It would be a good deal at twice as much money. Other properties nearby also share the names of months. I believe they share common ownership. In fact the tea kettle in my room says August Suites on it. I recommend booking into any of these hotels and would definitely stay here again.
