Shortly before this year’s Super Bowl I logged into the Caesars Sportsbook app and was surprised to see myself listed as Diamond status. The tiers are Gold, Platinum, Diamond and upward to Seven Stars. A match from Wyndham Rewards had given me Platinum status through 2022.
After checking the main Caesars Rewards app and seeing the same thing, I could only conclude that they made some mistake. I’m an extremely small stakes gambler and had nowhere near the needed tier credits for an upgrade. I also had zero activity in my account for nearly six months before the Super Bowl. In addition to many other benefits, Diamond is the level at which Caesars will not charge guests resort fees on any stay.

Booking with Caesars Diamond
Thinking that this glitch could be reversed at any moment I took the only logical course of action: book the lowest last-minute airfare to Vegas. With a member discount and no resort fees the total for four weeknights at Horseshoe (full review) came to a paltry $57. That’s not per night, it’s the price for the whole stay. Sure enough that’s what I paid at checkout. The next day an email arrived saying Welcome to Caesars Diamond.
On arriving I made my way to the rewards desk. They took my ID and gave me a Caesars Diamond card good through January 2024. I said thank you very much and left without asking any questions.
MGM recently downgraded Caesars Diamond to a Pearl match in their system. That’s one level lower than the previous Gold which erases their resort fees. It’s still free and easy to match. MGM Pearl also matches to Discoverist at Hyatt. I tried again to match status in Atlantic City but was denied at the Borgata.
Unfortunately I didn’t claim my $100 celebration dinner credit because I was unable to secure a reservation at Bacchanal Buffet. Although this benefit applies to all Caesars restaurants, Bacchanal Buffet will be a priority on the next visit.
