If you’re passing through South Florida and looking for a hotel convenient to FLL and Port Everglades you may have noticed two Comfort Suites Dania Beach locations near each other. Tonight I’m at the one on SW 19th Ct which is technically named Comfort Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport South & Cruise Port.

I booked this hotel for a two night stay from November 4-6, which is a Monday and Tuesday night.
I was able to get it on a close in booking for $109.81 including taxes. That’s good for the area and well below what this hotel sells for months out. The price dropped even further after I booked so I was able to cancel and re-book at that rate. I’m also receiving a 7% credit from an offer on my Venture X card bringing the nightly average to $102.13. This Comfort Suites Dania Beach enjoys an 8.0 rating on Expedia. Check the Expedia rates for your dates.
I chose this hotel because I like the location and I’m currently maximizing a points promotion with Choice Hotels.
Comfort Suites Dania Beach Location
The property is tucked up on a dead end street with two other hotels just off I-95. Of course itโs very near the airport and cruise terminals. Itโs also in between Daniaโs casino and the famous Seminole Hard Rock with the giant guitar hotel.
Stirling Road is a typical suburban retail stretch catering to middle/upper middle class tastes. Thereโs nothing directly adjacent to the hotel but anything you could wish for is two minutes away by car.

Itโs also just a few minutesโ drive to the beaches at Dania or Hollywood even though it doesnโt sell itself as a beach hotel.
Comfort Suites Dania Beach Property
The first thing you notice when you arrive here is that it looks nice. Better than a typical Comfort Inn by the interstate. It’s obvious that the building was made to be a Comfort Suites and isn’t just some old property that’s been reflagged a dozen times.
Inside it impresses as well. Everything around the lobby and breakfast area looks clean and new. There are no huge red flags such as you might see in some other Choice properties. The breakfast area is large here which is a plus. Breakfasts get crowded with whole families eating around the same time.
My only qualm is the lack of a fitness center. If you don’t want to skip leg day they will let guests of this hotel work out at the Cambria location on this street, which I did during my stay.
Comfort Suites Dania Beach Guest Rooms
I like these rooms quite a lot. Things feel new up here too with little wear and tear. The carpet feels good and the bed is raised a bit higher than usual which feels a little luxurious.
The rooms here include pullout sofabeds and extra blankets The furniture can be moved around and reconfigured easily when pulling out the sofabed, and there’s plenty of room for a dog bed or crate. A family of four would be comfortable in one king room here even if it’s not a true suite.

I’d choose this room over most of the others I’ve had in this area, including the Cambria which I also quite liked. But it’s got that half-length glass partition in the shower and no tub. It does get the floor wet and if you’re trying to bathe small kids you’re going to hate it.
About Dania Beach
I’ve been familiar with Dania Beach for several years because it’s home to the AMO Union headquarters and the STAR Center. The city’s position along with neighboring Hollywood in the South Florida conurbation is very convenient. You can reach anywhere from Pompano to Coral Gables easily by car. It’s also a bit overlooked, being overshadowed by the three largest cities of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and the Palm Beaches.
Dania is very much old-school Florida. There’s a casino with a jai-alai fronton and an OTB. There’s a Publix and another Publix. A beach and fishing pier and a smattering of old school motels you won’t find in online searches. Once you get away from either the beach or Route 1 it’s pure suburbia, with chains and shopping centers and a million houses that look like the one from the Golden Girls.
I like it here so much that it’s become my base of operations. My storage space is here, along with my car storage, mailbox and package delivery, pharmacy, etc. Having three airports nearby and scores of hotels that cater to cruise passengers makes this area extremely convenient as a base for a nomadic lifestyle.
Bottom Line
Many Choice Hotels brands can be very hit or miss, including Comfort Suites. This one’s a huge hit.
It’s not easy to secure a rating of 8.0 or above on Expedia. It goes to show that other people like this hotel as much as I do. If the price for your dates is competitive with nearby properties You should book a cancel-able rate and recheck the price as your trip approaches.
