If you’re coming to Boca to golf, visit family or just hit the beach you’re going to need to find a place to stay. And if you’re like me you probably don’t want to pay Brickell prices for Boca. Today I’m at the Holiday Inn Boca Raton- North. How is it? Let’s have a look.

I booked this for a four night stay checking out on a Monday. This was a very last minute booking as I tried to check in to a different area hotel and found the quality so bad I had to scramble for a room.
I was able to reserve this room for $123.72 per night, which is a bit more than I think it typically goes for. This hotel has a somewhat average rating of 7.6 on Expedia. Check the Expedia rates for your dates.
I wanted to stay here primarily because IHG has several promotions going right now for extra points and elite nights. As we know, maximizing hotel promotions can pay dividends down the road.
Holiday Inn Boca Raton Location
This hotel is in a large commercial complex called The Park at Broken Sound. But many of the other commercial buildings here are also hotels.
It’s very close to the Boca Raton airport, but I’m not sure that airport is large enough to drive demand for hotel rooms. It’s also near to Florida Atlantic University and just about a 10 minute drive to the beach.

I guess this location is good? It’s certainly not bad. But you need a car to do just about anything around here. I wouldn’t attempt to rely on transit or rideshare.
Holiday Inn Boca Raton Property
This is an interesting property. It’s built as an efficiency but it doesn’t feel like a motel. It feels properly beachy. There’s a small river and a greenway running along one side of the property.
The pool is extremely nice here and well maintained. It gives the whole place a proper Floridian resort vibe. The restaurant is set up like a pool house and the bar is open air onto the pool deck. At times during the stay this bar was playing music loud enough to be heard in every room, because they all face onto the pool. However the rooms have two doors you can close between the front window and bedroom so it wasn’t that big a deal. It would be more annoying to be sitting by the pool and trying to listen to your own music with that in the background.
There’s a good selection of sundries and snacks in the lobby along with coffee in the morning. Convenient to save you a trip to Walgreens. There’s also 24 hour coin laundry.
Holiday Inn Boca Raton Guest Rooms
The standard rooms here are suites, and you get a lot of room for the price. I particularly liked the bedrooms. It’s cozy in there with a door that shuts completely. It feels more like sleeping in an apartment than a hotel room.
In the video you can see that the living room was missing a TV. Credit to the management: I did see them unpacking several brand new TV’s to be installed in various rooms. I think I just caught this room on the wrong day.

I actually had a few minor issues with the room that aren’t really worth getting too detailed on. But the front desk was very nice about it and moved me to an identical room with a better desk, 2 TV’s, an upgraded Keurig. I think they’re really doing the best they can with a property that isn’t brand new anymore.
About Boca Raton
Boca is what you think it is. It’s a playground for 401k millionaires. It’s nice but it’s super suburban, with country clubs and golf courses absolutely everywhere.
The beach in Boca Raton is a lot more natural than other South Florida beaches. Much of it is a park so there’s nothing commercial fronting it and definitely no boardwalk like in Hollywood.
The Sixth Borough effect is real and you can see the influence in the Italian Delis and pizza shops here. Northeast retirees is what makes this place go.
Bottom Line
This is a good hotel that’s suitable for an extended stay if you can overlook a few minor foibles here and there. For the rates they charge, I think you should. There’s a lot of value here. The pool is so nice you’ll be very tempted to forego the beach and just hang here some days.
If the location works for you or if you need the space of a suite on a tighter budget this place is worth the stay. Book it with confidence. I’m sure I’ll be back here again before too long.
