If you’re loyal to one hotel brand or chain then picking a hotel before your flight at LAX is easy: just book your favorite and that’s it. But if you’re shopping around it can be a bit daunting. Just about every brand is represented here and prices fluctuate from bargain basement to through the roof.

Most passengers are just going to want to shop on price. That’s the right move. It makes very little difference and if you’re going to cut corners in the travel budget a one night stay near the airport is a good place to do it.
At the time of my stay IHG is running three separate points promotions at the same time making the Holiday Inn LAX Airport an easy choice at $151.06 for the night. You can check current rates near the airport on Expedia.
Holiday Inn LAX Airport Location
Not much to say here. It’s near the airport. Just a few minutes by ride share, shuttle or public bus. There aren’t many hotels actually closer than this.

The Holiday Inn LAX Airport is on the corner of Century Blvd, which runs directly into the terminal. This is the most convenient strip to stay on. Choosing a hotel on the green line of the metro is a good choice also.
Holiday Inn LAX Airport Property
The hotel is 12 floors and while you might call it ‘no frills’ it does have all the amenities you’d want in an airport hotel. Laundry and a shuttle most importantly. You can ride the shuttle in both directions for arriving and departing flights. Signing up ahead of time isn’t necessary.
There’s a modest but well maintained pool and a decent fitness center. The lobby is large with seating reminiscent of an airport lounge. the ground floor is hots to three separate food and beverage concepts. A grab and go coffee/muffin stand, a bar, and a full service restaurant.
Parking and luggage storage add another level of convenience.
Holiday Inn LAX Airport Guest Rooms
Not a lot to say here either. The room was “fine.” It definitely met expectations but didn’t really exceed them in any way. Some curtains or decorative window treatments would have enhanced it significantly.

My only small complaint is that the lights in the entry and bathroom are on motion sensors and timers so they shut off after several minutes. I like a room bright and ice cold. The air conditioning works well here anyway.
About The Area
It doesn’t really matter if you stay east of LAX or south or what. Hawthorne, Inglewood… it’s all nearly identical urban sprawl. Broad boulevards and avenues and businesses with a decidedly working class bent.
There are a couple of gas stations directly outside the Holiday Inn LAX Airport as well as a McDonalds and a Starbucks. There’s a decent selection of restaurants and fast food within easy walking distance. You won’t really feel like you’ve done LA after spending one night near the airport.
If you walk underneath the 405 half a block east of the hotel there are homeless people camping permanently under there. Not a great number of them but there is a lot of trash and a strong odor and the underpass is uncommonly dark. There’s no lights under there at all. If you’re the sort of person who’s put off by that it’s worth keeping in mind.
Bottom Line
Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express are typically very consistent in quality. Nothing wrong with this location at all. Jump at it if the price is right.
