If you’re searching for hotels in Medellín, chances are you’re searching in El Poblado. And if you want to be there you probably want to be pretty close to Lleras Park and Calle 10. The Hunters Concept is right in the heart of bustling Calle 10. Let’s take a closer look.

I booked this hotel as part of a longer stay in Medellín Thu-Sun July 10-13.
Those nights came to a total of $64.54 each after taxes booked the same day as check-in. The Hunters Concept has an Expedia rating of 9.4 from only 15 reviews. Check the Expedia rates for your dates.
I chose this place because I really enjoyed my stay at the Art Hotel Medellín and wanted something similar in the same area.
Hunters Concept Location
If you want to stay in El Poblado this location is as central as it gets. It’s right in the heart of Calle 10 and the Provenza nightlife district. If you’re coming for nightlife, this is exactly where you want to be, with everything just a few steps away including grocery, liquor stores, banks, money changers, co-working spaces, coffee shops and more.
You can walk to the Metro from here easily and will have no trouble at all with Uber or the many yellow cabs on Calle 10. However you don’t want to bring a car around here. It’s not necessary and you have to find a green-vested attendant and pay cash to park on the street. There are no signs to indicate where and how long it’s legal to stay.

In any of the hotels within a few blocks of Lleras park you’re prone to hear music from one source or another. There’s also a great amount of street noise during the day with construction and renovation in many locations throughout the neighborhood. Calle 10 and 10A are on a long graded hill and there’s considerable engine noise from motorbikes and trucks, particularly trucks gear-braking downhill.
Hotels here are nice but if you want something genuinely upscale you should look on Carerra 43A just south of here in what they call La Milla De Oro, or Golden Mile.
Hunters Concept Property
The entire public area at Hunter’s Concept except the hallways were under renovation during my stay. The pared-down lobby consisted only of a couch and front desk. Upon completion the first floor will house a coffee shop and a small restaurant. There will also be a rooftop area that’s sure to provide stunning views as this hotel is taller than most surrounding buildings and the location is near the center of the valley.
On the bright side they offer guests a free drink at a nearby bar as a welcome amenity. But they also require you to carry (not wear) a wristband to show the security guard at night. I found this silly and unnecessary but people here are very conscious of crime.
The center of the building is an open area providing a view of the full height of the building. It’s an interesting choice. Housekeeping was not daily.
Hunters Concept Guest Rooms
The rooms here at Hunters Concept are as small as you can be without becoming a ridiculous Japanese business hotel. They’re workable for one person but would be tight for any couple no matter how well they travel together.
It’s a strange choice to split the toilet and shower into separate compartments. To do a full morning routine you’d need to be in three separate stations depending on what you’re doing. They could have made a pass through from the water closet to the shower and walled the shower off from the bedroom. Stepping out of the shower and being right next to the bed is just weird.

But if you can deal with the size and storage limitations it’s really quite a nice room. If you bought a Medellín condo as a vacation home, this is probably how you’d furnish the bedroom. The bed is very comfortable with tons of pillows, although they do that thing where they skimp on a top sheet for just a duvet cover. The desk is small but workable unless you’re a full-time digital nomad in which case you’d want a co-working setup.
About El Poblado
The area around Lleras Park is a world class nighlife destination, with people coming from all over to enjoy top notch hospitality and Latin rhythm in the clubs. There are dozens of dining options in the neighborhood including Colombian places with extremely generous portions.
Hotels, hostels and co-working spaces fill out the neighborhood. It’s quite popular with digital nomads and Latin tourists, although Americans make up less of the tourist trade than you’d expect.

El Poblado is overall very safe, although if you stay out too late and get too drunk some very bad things can happen here. Overall the area is like living a California lifestyle on a Colombian budget. It’s worth the trip even if you can only stay for the weekend.

Bottom Line
This room was such a bargain at $65. It would be a bargain at $85. You can fly round trip on Avianca and stay three nights at the Hunters Concept and the whole total is under $500. It’s a wonder people aren’t coming down here for the weekend several times a year.
If the question in your mind is “Is this place as nice as it looks online?” The answer is definitely yes. Go book it now.
